Halfway At Sea!!!!
So the Sea Olympics on October 20th marked the official halfway point of my voyage! Wow right! Its crazy!!!! I have already been to Canada, Spain, Morocco, Ghana, South Africa, Mauritius and India!!!! – I still have Vietnam, China, Japan, Hawaii, and San Diego left!!! It’s just so weird that I am sailing around the world, taking classes, visiting countries, learning, and having the experience of a lifetime! I have heard so many different languages and I have used 7 different types of currencies!
Canada — Canadian Dollar
Spain — Euro
Morocco — Dirram
Ghana — Cedi
South Africa — Rand
Mauritius — Mauritian Rupee
India — Indian Rupee
I have learned so much so fast, traveling to all these countries has been amazing! I have done so many things that I never thought that I would have the opportunity to do – I have gone to all these places that I never thought that I would have the opportunity to go to! I have seen to many things that I could never imagine. I have seen life in other counties. I have seen how people live, where they live, what their culture is like and so much more! I have made such amazing friends too! From near and far! I have an amazing roommate that I lucked out on, we get a long great and we are much alike! I have changed time zones many times. I have advanced my clock more then 10hours away from home. In this past month and a half I have changed the time on my clock the amount of times that you would change in 5years!! So much is just so different but it is still amazing! I have lived on a ship for a month and half!!!!
In this month and a half of living on a ship some of the things I have learned or thought about more are:
- There is life without internet
- There is life without cell phones (although I HATE not being able to talk to my family and friends when I want to!!)
- You work with the resources that you have – you make do with what you have.
- There is always someone around
- The food sucks but its free so you eat it cause its there (I have lived off eating tomatoes and toast for probably two or so weeks now!)
- I am SO sick of seeing Beef, port, fish, and chicken – especially because they are terrible on the ship – I could semi almost be a vegetarian!! But I couldn’t do that!
- Soda is not important when you don’t have it hahah
- There really isn’t life in the middle of the ocean – school, homework, sleeping, and relaxing is a major part of life here!! Also board games!!
- Everyone came on this ship in the same position – not knowing anyone, being crazy nervous, but knowing that they were going to meet tons of people and have a great time.
- My parents are the most AMAZING people I know. They are the bes parents anyone could ever ask for!! (I knew that before but hey, I’ll just throw that out there)
- The rest of my family is OF course AMAZING also!! and the best! I could’ve have done this trip without any of them – mom, dad, auntie, nana, -papa- everyone! Love you all! And miss you!
- We just left India yesterday – I have officially been to more then half the countries on the itinerary. Wow
—- This is more then anyone could ever ask for at 21 years old!! – I am circumnavigating the world on a ship! I have learned so much, experienced so much, and I am loving every minute of it. I am so thankful that I have been given the chance to experience and see life in a different way — It has been a huge eye opener =) and it has just been unbelievably amazing —-
