A Fresh Look

Survival of the… freshmen?

by Morgan | September 3, 2007

So I made it. I did all the paperwork and moved all my junk into my dorm room. I am finally a freshman in college! YES! So what does that mean?

I’m over worked, under paid, sleepy, hungry, and find every way to not get anything done.

Lol. No its not that bad. I love my dorm room. My roomate rocks. I love you Gabrielle! We get along great and understand each other. Although, some days she wants to strangle me bec I keep the room so cold! Ooops! The way we get along is by writing each other notes about everything. Simple as “hey, I’m going to take a shower, answer my phone if it rings” or “have a great time tonight!”

Freshmen 101, your roomate is going to be in your space, so better become friends with them quick! Get to know them and make sure you know who is bringing what! Its cool to know that if I need anything, I can call Gabrielle. Plus, I’m always around if she forgets her keys!

Making friends can be crazy the first week. It may be hard at first when the parents are around, but soon as you kick them out the door, you will meet a ton of people! I promise! Everyone is being on their best behavior since mom and dad are around. Soon as they are gone, students start to relax and become more like themselves.

Lets see, I’ve got Jen from Boston, she rocks! We sit together in Bio and make faces while the prof is telling us for the 3rd time that day that we know nothing! lol. Apparently, in high school, they don’t teach science! Who knew? I randomly walked up to her since we have a few classes together and told her that I was tired and in total shock from my first few days of college, she felt the same way and we hit it off.

Now Michelle from Brazil, she’s quiet but I love hanging with her at parties! We sit in the corner and joke the whole time. I think we forget that we are supposed to be dancing or something. Woops!

Then there is Eric from New York. He is the first New Yorker I have ever met that I liked! I call him when I need to relax and just chill. He has so many movies and TV shows! We never run out of stuff to do! He’s a big gamer as well.

Rob from Philly, he’s cool. He’s goofy but a huge sweet heart! He’s funny too.

Classes are a lot of fun. No I’m serious! I love going to class! Ya sure there may be a lot of work sometimes but hey, I love it! The classes are small and the students in my classes are from all over the world. In one week, I’ve learned more than I probably did in a month in high school and probably 5% was from a textbook! Just sit in class and soak it all in, it will blow your mind away! Oh and, it helps having funny professors! I have yet to meet one professor that doesn’t love their job, not like but love. (I’ve heard of one or two, but they may be a myth!)

Well, thats all for now! I’m starving! I’ll be sure to load some pictures soon!
