It’s freezing!

February 27th, 2008 by Morgan

I just got back from the Safe Spring Break Carnival and I am freezing! It is so cold outside! Chris (aka Big Lu) was making fun of me today for wearing my rain jacket, but I didn’t care. It was keeping me warm and we do live in South Florida so it can rain at the most random moments. I saw clouds this morning and that was all the information I needed to know!

I was going to skip lunch today so I could get some work done, only problem is, I have this really bossy friend who makes sure that I eat. lol. Got to love Cristina. Samara got lost in the caf or something, cause she took forever and came out with a ton of food. Lunch was good but I was really cold and so were Cristina and Samara. We pretty much just ate and ran back to our rooms for warmth. What happened to the weather from the other day? It was so hot people were melting. I don’t get this state!

Oh and the state wide blackout. Ya, the power went out for like an hour, so did my phone coverage which was great because Cristina was trying to call me and so was my family. Try calling back 10 worried people! Thank goodness the phone came back online after 45 minutes! I don’t even want to know how many missed calls I would have had.

First Event

February 27th, 2008 by Morgan

I am hosting my first event this thursday! I’m excited but very nervous. I have so much to do and the list never seems to have a bottom! Soon as I think I’m getting close, three or four more things pop up on it! I could not do this for a living!

Anyway, I am bring in a speaker, Dorothy Davis to talk about her life and her job at the United Nations. I’m very excited to have her come to Lynn.

Check out the facebook page I created for the event, and if you are in the Boca area, drop by!

Calculus and Chocolate Cake

February 25th, 2008 by Morgan

So I wake up to my professor asking if any of us wanted some cake today in Calculus. Yes, I did admit to sleeping in class. I was pretty much out for 15 minutes before I realized it and was freaking out in my head until he said there was chocolate cake. lol. He brought in three cakes which he claims were given to him and his wife, but the guys insist that he stole them for class, which they were cool with. The girls jumped all over the chocolate cake and the cheese cake.

I am going to be on a sugar high until English class. Oh boy, this should make for a very interesting day.

Flip-flops

February 25th, 2008 by Morgan

Freshmen 101 tip: Bring Flip-flops with you. Not just one pair because if you lose that one pair, I would not want to be you trying to take a shower! Just think about it, a bunch of guys or girls sharing 5 showers…. just saying. Protect your feet and your health. Hey, I’m a bio major, you don’t want to know what you could catch! Lord knows I wish I didn’t know… lol.

So what to bring, flip-flops for the shower and walking around in the halls, plus, we live in Florida! Come on! The BEACH!!!!

Messy room

February 22nd, 2008 by Morgan

My room is a mess right now. I have been hunting for my BSU shirt which is no where to be found. Err. So yes, now my room is a mess and there are shirts covering the floor. Where is that stupid shirt? I don’t know how I keep losing so many shirts in this tiny room!

Taking care of friends

February 21st, 2008 by Morgan

One of my friends lost a family member this week and so a lot of us have been doing everything we can to keep them busy. Its hard when a friend is hurting and it makes it worse when I’m always busy when I want to be there for them.

The good thing about college is that there are a lot of people around you to support you. Good times or bad, there are people that care and are willing to listen. Only, sometimes a person doesn’t need all that much help and it can be kind of hard when it seems like you are drowning in help. Grief is a sensitive subject and there are as many diffrent ways of dealing with grief as there are books in a library.

It can be draining taking care of some one else, rewarding, but draining. I have so much going on this week, but I have as much as possible to if this person into my life. I want to do more but I don’t want to invade.

*yawns* ok… now I am just going on and on. I need to go to bed. At a decent hour, yes that would be good.

Freshmen 101 tip: College is tough on its own, toss in what life throws at you and it can be very stressful. Just remember, there is your family, friends at school, friends at home, and tons of professors and Lynn staff you can talk to about what is going on. You are never alone… at least, not at Lynn! This is why it is important to surround yourself with good people once you get to college. The first few weeks are rough, make good friends. Lord knows I wouldn’t have made it this far without them!

Busy Busy Busy

February 21st, 2008 by Morgan

Today has been a seriously busy day. I am just now slowing down at 10:23pm. Not a normal day for me. I want to say congrats to Tauran (who is one of my sisters) for her efforts in the Monopoly game tonight. Awsome turn out! Just, did we have enough to break a world record? That, I still do not know, but will find out so I can tell the world! lol. It was a lot of fun and I met a guy named JD who is going to be a Lynn  Blogger soon. I was shocked, to meet him but it was a lot of fun getting to know him. Here’s hoping to see him as one of our new bloggers in the next couple of weeks!

So I am doing a ton of stuff for Black  Student Union that needs to be done right away which is keeping me very busy. I don’t know how I am going to get everything I need to get done tomorrow. Holiday season is the worst time. There are never enough hours before a break! Spring break starts March 1st.

Uh oh, my stomach is empty. I better go get some food before I go to bed. Plus, I have a lot to do before I can even get to bed!

The humor in Calculus

February 20th, 2008 by Morgan

Every calculus class, my professor says the most random stuff. Sometimes its shocking, like today where I almost fell out of my chair.

Apparently M.C. Hammer can now also be related to math for lines that do not touch the X axis. (Can’t touch this?)

He said one line that was seriously funny, but I’m not sure I can put it on the school website….

Mail

February 19th, 2008 by Morgan

I love finding out that I have mail. Although, today I found out that I have three packages that all arrived today, but I showed up to late to pick them up. I am going to be so busy all tomorrow so I don’t know when I am going to have the time to pick them up! Oh well, I wonder who they are all from! Very exciting.

I would be even more excited if my paycheck would magically show up right now…. just saying.

Freshmen 101 tip: Not really a tip, but a wake up call. College students are always broke. Not high school broke, but oh my gosh there is a quarter on the ground broke. Sometimes we have money, and then we celebrate and dance around our rooms, call everyone we know and go to the movies or go and get “real people food.”
