Beach Weather

by Morgan | April 21, 2008

Today would be the perfect day to chill at the beach or beside the pool. The temp is perfect for a relaxing day out, playing under the sun, or having a BBQ. Damn these classes! Go away so I can play!

Its one of the best days I’ve seen in at least 3 weeks and I wish I could take advantage of this beautiful sunshine!

Oh well, I guess the One Republic concert should go well then. Wonderful weather for an outside concert I guess. I won’t know, I’ve never been to a concert before.

This is why we Relay

by Morgan | April 17, 2008

This past weekend was relay for life. We raised so much money for it. We are only $8,000 away from our goal! Very exciting news. I believe that our schools goal is $35,000 this year. I must say, after all the hard work that was put into it, stressed out people every where the morning of, and all the preperation put into the event, it truelywas an amazing night!

All I have to say is, note to self, next year, do not pull all nighter before relay for life. I passed out shortly after midnight. I was sad that I got so tried I couldn’t stay up any longer because I was having so much fun. I did laps with my sisters, my friends, and classmates. Sold hand made handbags by Tri Sigma with my sisters, donated money towards Cristina’s events, bought two cheeseburgers troughout the night from Rob’s ZBT brothers, ran like a crazy person looking up cancer facts for Black Student Union for a Relay For Life event (I came so close to winning! Darn!), and who knows what else! I really just had a lot of fun, learned a ton of facts about cancer, raised money for the fight against cancer and had a ball doing it with some of the greatest people on Earth! Don’t think I didn’t see some Alumni out there as well! That was pretty cool to see past students coming back on campus to support something that they believe in.

I also have one big thank you for one of my sisters mom’s. Selby’s to be exact. Her mom spoke about her fight against cancer. It was very moving and it was wonderful to meet her. The sisters have been going crazy with excitment when we found out that Selby’s mom would be speaking. She did a great job with the video she made and a wonderful example of why Sigma Sigma Sigma picked the slogan, we are 48 reasons. Cancer touches us all.

The Greeks doing their laps

Running into people

by Morgan | March 20, 2008

I spent my day running around from classes to meetings. Always fun. I kept trying to squeeze in a nap, which I some how managed to do for while (Best nap of my life!).

I finished with the greek party meeting, which was awsome since some guy named TC pretty much messed up the fence by the caf that recently shot up. The head of of APD wrote a 10 on his notebook and the whole greek life just errupted in laughter. So I finished with “the roll on the floor from laughing meeting” with my wonderful greek family and went to see Cristina. She was hungry so we went to subway and ate outside the caf, just having girl time. It was peaceful which was nice, until Rob got really hyper while he was out with his greek brothers and would not stop texting me. I was like, this is girl time!!! HUSH!

When he got home, Rob wanted to talk to me, so I went back to his room with him and Cristina were like, forget being up! I’m going to bed, good night you guys! Rob was doing homework and I was surfing the web on my phone while we chatted. After a while, he was like, forget this! I can’t focus, can you type for me? He walked around his room and I was just typing what he said. I was half sleep but I didn’t mind typing for him. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and it was Joey! He wanted Rob to sign a paper for him so he could run for SGA. All I see is Joey’s head pop in and hear him say, is that my blogger? I’m like yup, I’m just helping Rob with homework. Alyssa was like perfect! Then you can sign as well. I was happy to help. Although, I must wonder, when does Joey plan on making time for SGA? He’s in like… everything!

Today has been a day of old friends popping up. Robbie is home on leave from military school. I got a surprise phone call from him today. I was thrilled. Then my friend April started texting me. My life was rocking today. I feel like my old life is still part of me, that I haven’t totally said good bye to life before college. It’s hard to explain.

Oh and, who ever thought putting up fences around the caf was a good idea… it wasn’t. That only encourages us to find new creative ways to get around it. Don’t believe me? Check out the facebook page that was created for everyone that can’t stand the stupid fences at Lynn.

Lunch/Dinner

by Morgan | March 17, 2008

I was running around town and happened to drop by the school for a minute when I look to my left while driving to notice Eric driving right next to me. I was like, where in the world did you come from? He was just going for a drive and I was trying to cash a check from my grandfather for my birthday.

We ended up going all over the stupid city, neither one of us had much gas in our cars, I ended up having to open a bank account because my bank is only found in DC I guess. Afterwards, we dropped off my car since I hate driving and Eric loves to drive, and then headed out to find food.

We got stuck in traffic for two and a half hours! It was horrible! Eric was texting his girlfriend CJ since we weren’t moving and I was texting pretty much everyone in my phone book. lol. We could not get out of the traffic, it was horrible. We tried all kinds of back ways but we kept finding backed up streets. Eric went into New York mode and started driving in a way that would make Rob and Cristina fear for their lives. I on the other hand was like, you drive like a Kuwaiti. (It takes a lot to shock me in a car. Drive fast, drive like a crazy person, I’ve seen it all.)

Oh! And some old woman hit my car today! I was so upset! I nearly had a heart attack! I was like, my car! MY BABY!!!! It was about to get really ugly. Lucky for the both of us, neither of us had a scratch on our cars. Great, since she was a NUT CASE!!!! Who the heck pulls out of a parking spot without looking???? I was so upset, that was probably why I was so thankful that Eric was driving later in the afternoon. It seems all of Boca went crazy on the road today! Just… AAAHHHH! Look where you are going! My mom is happy that I am fine and I’m happy that I don’t have a scratch on my car.

Freshmen 101 tip: For the International Students!!!! Since I grew up over seas, I have an account with the State Department bank, which well, is not found everywhere in the states and leaves me tons of problems. My advice, talk to your parents about how they will send you money, who you will pay for stuff at school or checks that need to be from American banks in American Dollars. I learned a lot about banks today, they are annoying and confusing!

Also, another tip, old people are crazy on the road. Stay away from them or pass them. They can hit you and its no big deal for them. They have money and better insurance. Its a fact, get over it. That… and there crazy.

Spending time with Rob

by Morgan | March 16, 2008

In the last 24 hours, I’ve spent a lot of time with Rob. Which is great, since we had a TON to catch up on. Sometimes we all just get really busy. Last night we watched movies and TV and just were really silly. Today we had lunch at Toojay’s. I had never been there before, so it was a lot of fun.

Now I am going to take a nap before I have to start doing all my homework. Homework sucks! It seems to never end!

It’s freezing!

by Morgan | February 27, 2008

I just got back from the Safe Spring Break Carnival and I am freezing! It is so cold outside! Chris (aka Big Lu) was making fun of me today for wearing my rain jacket, but I didn’t care. It was keeping me warm and we do live in South Florida so it can rain at the most random moments. I saw clouds this morning and that was all the information I needed to know!

I was going to skip lunch today so I could get some work done, only problem is, I have this really bossy friend who makes sure that I eat. lol. Got to love Cristina. Samara got lost in the caf or something, cause she took forever and came out with a ton of food. Lunch was good but I was really cold and so were Cristina and Samara. We pretty much just ate and ran back to our rooms for warmth. What happened to the weather from the other day? It was so hot people were melting. I don’t get this state!

Oh and the state wide blackout. Ya, the power went out for like an hour, so did my phone coverage which was great because Cristina was trying to call me and so was my family. Try calling back 10 worried people! Thank goodness the phone came back online after 45 minutes! I don’t even want to know how many missed calls I would have had.

First Event

by Morgan | February 27, 2008

I am hosting my first event this thursday! I’m excited but very nervous. I have so much to do and the list never seems to have a bottom! Soon as I think I’m getting close, three or four more things pop up on it! I could not do this for a living!

Anyway, I am bring in a speaker, Dorothy Davis to talk about her life and her job at the United Nations. I’m very excited to have her come to Lynn.

Check out the facebook page I created for the event, and if you are in the Boca area, drop by!

Flip-flops

by Morgan | February 25, 2008

Freshmen 101 tip: Bring Flip-flops with you. Not just one pair because if you lose that one pair, I would not want to be you trying to take a shower! Just think about it, a bunch of guys or girls sharing 5 showers…. just saying. Protect your feet and your health. Hey, I’m a bio major, you don’t want to know what you could catch! Lord knows I wish I didn’t know… lol.

So what to bring, flip-flops for the shower and walking around in the halls, plus, we live in Florida! Come on! The BEACH!!!!

Sam

by Morgan | February 17, 2008

How is it when I need to find Sam, I don’t see him  for days, but soon as I get my answer, he pops up! I swear he knows when I am looking for him for Black Student Union  stuff!

I just finished emailing him all these questions and got half the answers and then he pops up! Of course! lol. And of course  I had given up on finding him so I forgot half the stuff I needed to ask him! Life is funny.

Oh and there seems to be a death storm headed out way.Great. The sky looks really dark and scary on one side and the other all nice and sunny. Florida!
