Too excited to sleep

by Morgan | August 16, 2009

It is almost 1 am and I am to excited to sleep. I am looking forward to school to start in a few days. Yes, I’m the nerdy kid who loves the first day of school. I am using the Tri Sigma mentality, always moving forward. I’m looking forward, and enjoying what is yet to come. I am looking forward to moving into my dorm room! Finally, a single! All to myself, from the start. I have so many ideas  for the room design, my mother is scared and has recently and oh so convenitly “lost” her wallet.

Black Student Union is going to be up and running this school year, ya! New exciting programs to come up with and new people to meet. Sigma Sigma Sigma recruitment, making new friends, loving new sisters. I am looking forward to continue with the ideas that I started  last year and to see how they have grown over the summer to make them even better for the sorority. This year, I really want to take the time and get to know all the great women I call my sisters. I feel like I missed out on getting to know some of the ones that graduated last year and now they are gone becoming wonderful women in their fields.

Then there are the new labs, new ways to try and blow up our lab experiments. :) Just joking Professor Ahmed!

This is the year where I have to find a job in my future field. I am going to the career center soon as I get back so they can help me make sure that I get the right job that meets the requirments  that I need to get into a veterinarian school.

It is going to be a very busy year this year, but I am very excited to jump into it and get started! I have a feeling I may have over booked myself, but I’m not worried. I am looking forward to seeing what I learn about myself this year and the great adventures I find myself in over time. I feel like junior year is my year to shine. Freshmen year was the year to adapt to my new life, sophomore year was the year to work hard and focus on my grades and what made me happy, now it’s my year to come out of my shell and make my mark.

Work

by Morgan | November 10, 2008

I had so much fun today at work! The kids were great and I had a lot of fun watching them try and figure out the games. Although, this group tonight, they had the most energy I have ever seen a group of kids have before! It was crazy, the kids were just… energetic!

Thank goodness I only work a few hours a week… or I would need to get a raise!

The longest weekend

by Morgan | October 20, 2008

I just had the longest weekend. It is 2 am on Monday morning, and this is my first chance to slow down and blog. I blogged earlier while doing homework, but now I am free. (don’t worry, I don’t have class until 2 in the afternoon.)

So saturday morning, I went to the breast cancer walk that the school helps out at each year. All the clubs sign up to set up, some walk, and others clean up. I could only be there for a little while, but I loved seeing the support… at 5:30 in the morning.

It was really the morning. Some people had been there since 4:40 in the morning. I had only about 3 hours of sleep before I went to the breast cancer walk, then I left there early to go to work. I was at work from 8:15 to 12:30 pm.

Work! Coaching youth soccer is so much fun. I love my job, but the first day back, those kids wore me out! I forgot how hard it is to keep track of 5 and 6 year olds in large numbers. I am starting to see why people have kids, expensive entertainment. Those kids are the funniest things to listen to some times. I asked one how many gates he went through and he said 400, then the one next to him said 1/6th. I was near tears.

Since it was the first day, as my boss distracted the parents with papers, we coachs played games for the kids that taught them simple soccer skills without them even noticing. Red light, green light is still a big hit.

Then I rushed back to campus after grabbing food with Cristina to eat and take a shower. I left to run to the bus heading to Orlando for Halloween Horror Nights. I had so much fun!

First of all, I am a huge chicken. Michelle, my sister, asked me to go with her and I was like, you are crazy! There is no way I am going to pay some one to give me a heart attack! Well, finally I agreed and told her that it was her one sisterly wish of the year.

I go knock on Michelle’s door and we head to the bus. We couldn’t find a seat together, but ones next to each other, with the isle between us. We were both sitting next to guys we didn’t know and trying to stay awake so we didn’t fall asleep on them by acident. Well the guy I sat next to was very nice. I forgot his name the moment I fell asleep though. *frowns* He was really nice. At least I slept most of the way which I was happy about. I was so tired!

Once we got there, we of course ran to the first scary house we could find. I don’t think I have ever screamed so much! I was so scared, I grabbed Michelle’s backpack and screamed “Run!” which she more than happily replied, “I’m trying, let go of me!” lol.

Well, we shopped as well, which we then ended up very broke by the time we left. I got a few shirts and of course I had to stop at the Men In Black store. Oh and don’t forget the Simspons store. I now own a Bart Simpson shirt.

We tried a bunch of rides, The Mummy, the Simspsons, the M.I.B, and a few more. Then the scare houses! I think we went to 3 of them. I was more than happy to scream. I had a poster in my hand when we went through the third one and I screamed at one, “touch me and die!” Yes, I was going take him down with a poster. lol. Hey, I was scared. Then another one came out of know where and was screaming for me to hit him, I nicely grabbed Michelle’s arm and turned to the nice scary man and said, “No thank you.” and ran for my life! I don’t mess with people who asked to be hit, they have nothing to lose it seems.

At 2 am, we were back on the bus, heading back to Lynn. I listened to my Ipod all the way back. Once back, it looked like 50 zombies were walking back to their rooms. 5 somthing in the morning is not a good look for most people. Michelle and I hardly said anything to each other, it was just the heavy foot march back to our rooms. I crawled into bed, very sore, very tired, and heavily in pain all over, expecially in my feet.

Well, I woke up late afternoon sunday, ate, when to my Sigma meeting and then headed back to my room to do homework. I spent a good portion of my time sending emails, getting some Tri Sigma things done and chatting. Then came the homework! Ugh, at least it is all finished! And I did really well on my midterms so I am happy!

Well, good night everyone! I have reason to party for next weekend, awesome grades! Yes! lol. I wonder if I can get money out of my family for my midterm grades? Hmmm?

Mid what?

by Morgan | October 13, 2008

How are some professors giving mid term grades this weekend???? HOW??? Didn’t I just get back to school?

I had a lot of homework this weekend but I got it all finished in time. Wonderful. Now I am so tired. I fell asleep in Chem today, not good. Thank goodness it was a review day so it wasn’t new information.

Today was the first meeting for Science Club.  Wait, before you run for your life, it’s not like high school! We get to turn the lab upside down, create our own labs and well, maybe we can talk Professor Villaverde into letting us blow up pumpkins! How cool would that be?

Time is flying by right now. I can’t wait for this weekend, and yet, I don’t want it to come! I have so much to do this weekend that I am going to sleep all monday next week. Halloween horror nights, breast cancer walk, work. So much to do! And don’t forget my favorite part, HOMEWORK!

Well, at least Michelle and I might go to the beach on friday to relax before a very busy weekend.

Now it’s nap time. I was up till 4 am doing homework and then had to get up early this morning, so it is nap time for me! Good night!

Were’s the hold up? Parking!

by Morgan | August 29, 2008

This is mostly for returning students.

I was trying to check in on MyLynn, when it said that I had a hold. I was  like, ahhh, how in the world do I have a hold on my account? Well it was  in parking. So I called the school and asked what was up with that, since even Cristina has a hold on parking, and she doesn’t have a car. Well security informed me that each year we have to fill out a form (click here for the form) for parking. Why, I do not understand, but we must! So I filled out the form and sent it in. Now I am just waiting for the ok that will allow me to check in.  Problem solved!

I can not wait to get back on campus! Oh its almost to hard to stand, all this waiting! The 6th seems so far away! I am looking forward to seeing Ashlea so I can tell her happy birthday in person and give her a hug! Classes start up on the 8th and I still feel that is way to long to wait for my first class. Yes, I was the kid in middle school that loved the first day of school. But the first day of college, 15 times better! lol.

Cristina just flew down there this morning, which makes me jealous. She’s already in the beautiful Florida sun. Rob texts me every day about what we are going to do when we back. I’m not quite sure when I plan on sleeping for the first month. Between new science classes, to hanging out with my friends, to blog meetings! Oh boy, So busy and I could not be happier to be busy once again. Then work starts up! Yes! Teaching again. I miss the kids hyper happy little faces while they learn new skills which to them look crazy, but for us coaches are old news.  (Now that thought makes me feel old!)

School, dorm life, sisters, friends, parties, movies, dinners.  So much to look forward too! Ooo… and my car. Can’t forget the car, which probably will be very cranky and won’t start once I get back.  Oh well, work on that when I get there. Back to Boca Raton. Back to the lovely sun and the bright open space. Oh so much to look forward too!

Hmm, still got to go shopping for cool dorm stuff! This year, I have two wonderful roomates who want to have the best room on the floor. (No pressure there! lol.)

HOME!

by Morgan | May 12, 2008

I’m home. It’s fantastic! Although, my mother ditched me for Africa. Lovely, but I still have my cats, the condo, her car, and TV! Its a mini party in here! The cats are thrilled, I have a ton of good food stocked up in the fridge. Everything is perfect! Now all I have to do is wait for my mother to get home so I can pretend like she didn’t ditch me the day before Mother’s Day.

Oh ya, I’m job hunting. It’s awesome. I’m looking for a job at Union Station at one of the stores.

Planning for next year

by Morgan | April 17, 2008

There is so much to do for next year. I have to get my room assignment, find storage for my stuff, figure out what to do with my car, finish up my courses, plan my summer and find a job while I’m at it, meet with my adviser to plan my schedual for next year, Look for a job for next school year. There is a ton of stuff I hadn’t thought about! Ahhh! Growing up never ends! lol. How is my first year almost over? I only have a few weeks left. It’s… nerve racking!

So much has happened, I’ve learned so much, done so much, and yet, there is so much MORE to come!

Mail

by Morgan | February 19, 2008

I love finding out that I have mail. Although, today I found out that I have three packages that all arrived today, but I showed up to late to pick them up. I am going to be so busy all tomorrow so I don’t know when I am going to have the time to pick them up! Oh well, I wonder who they are all from! Very exciting.

I would be even more excited if my paycheck would magically show up right now…. just saying.

Freshmen 101 tip: Not really a tip, but a wake up call. College students are always broke. Not high school broke, but oh my gosh there is a quarter on the ground broke. Sometimes we have money, and then we celebrate and dance around our rooms, call everyone we know and go to the movies or go and get “real people food.”

RA?

by Morgan | February 19, 2008

I am thinking about becoming an RA…. hmm. I talked it over with my mom. She likes the idea. I’m still not sold yet.

More to come! Now I must sleep! Its 2:30 in the morning. Don’t ask why I am up, I’m not even sure.

Work, play, and sleep.

by Morgan | February 1, 2008

So the past 48 hours have been very busy for me. I have a stomach virus. Fun. I am starting to feel better now which is great.

Last night, only me and Cristina at work. At first I thought, man this is going to be a long night, just two of us! By the end of it, we were laughing and smiling and so were the girls. All the coachs are sad now that the season is over. We had the coolest job by far on campus. lol. I really love my job so its hard to believe that the season is over and I have wait until the next school year. I hope it flys by!

ZBT was playing basketball against who knows what other team last night. All I know is that Cristina wanted to go watch and it was a good excuse to put off my homework for another hour or two. They lost, so so badly, but it was a lot of fun watching them! Charlie kept taking Rob’s phone and calling people on it and making very strange faces along with even weirder sounds. Cristina almost got away with Charlie’s shoe too! So close! We probably would have stuck it behind some bush on our way home. What? We would have told him where it was… sooner or later.

Ahhh sleep… for college students, sleep is like a pass time. Its almost like a sporting event. Who ever can get the most sleep in one week wins. Being sick this week, I’ve been sleeping a lot, but not very well. Thank goodness its friday so I can get some rest now!

I haven’t seen Cristina all day, which is a first. I’m not sure if I should be worried, or just call it a freak accident. I will probably see her around dinner time. Still strange not seeing her all day though!

Oh and I am training to become a tour guide for the school! Ya! I went on a test tour today, to see how it goes with a guy who is a grad student here. His name was…. ahhh…. darnit! I will have to call Fran in that office to find out his name. I need sleep, I can’t even remember names now! Well, he was a wonderful guide, and I learned a lot about Lynn, and I go here! Haha. I have some studying to do before I can give a tour on my own, but I am looking forward to it! Soon, I will be seeing the future faces of Lynn, like Ashlea who was my tour guide when I came a few years ago!
