Financial Aid Scams
In a recent press release, the U.S. Department of Education along with several other national financial aid organizations have released a series of pamphlets, flyers and posters entitled “Don’t get Hooked”.
The message here is simple: do not pay for financial aid services! Many financial aid scams exist whether they offer scholarship money for a fee, assistance with completing the FAFSA or even general advice. If you see that there is a price tag associated with a scholarship or financial aid assistance, steer clear. Recognize these servicse for what they are- a scam. Please always remember that you should never have to pay for financial aid. The money you would spend on these scams would be much, much better spent on your real college expenses.
