A 4 Day Break

Well i got into Little Rock on Saturday at about 1:30. My dad picked me up and we went and met my mom at their store. We went to lunch at my favorite BBQ place, Chip’s. My mom and I went to the store called Perisan’s, a clothing store, and I got a new suit for basketball. After that we went to Men’s Warehouse for me to get another suit. I got a couple shirts and ties so I will look good for next semester’s games. Later that night, my parents and Lauren, a girl that works for my parents, went to my favorite steakhouse, Arthur’s. I call Lauren my little sister. Lauren and I then went to the mall so we could get our mom’s gifts. I got my mom a robe and some body lotion. After I dropped Lauren off, I went to meet Sophia for a movie. We went to see National Treasure, SUCH A GOOD MOVIE!

The next day I hung out with my parents and went to dinner with them, my brother Ben, my grandmother, and my great-Uncle Jim. Then we went home and my brother and I played a little bit of Nitendo Wii and then I went to go meet my friend Erin. Today, I went and met my friend Lauren to catch up with her. Then I went to dinner with my family and my Aunt Harriet, whose husband is the Travel Coordinator and the University of Memphis. Tomorrow we are going to eat at our favorite Chinese restaurant, FuLin’s, then I will head back to school Wensday morning at 6:40.Â

Staying on campus during Christmas Break

Well, today everybody finished exams today and most people have left for a month, until next semester. However there are a few small groups that are staying on campus. The Conservatory of Music students are, as well as both Men’s and Women’s basketball teams are staying here. The men’s team is here until the 22nd, and we come back the 26th for practice. While the time we get with our families is short, it will be great. The one thing I learned from last year is that when your away from your family for a good while, you realize exactly how much you love them and miss them.

Tonight we had our first game over the break. We played at Palm Beach Atlantic. The game was a tight game the whole time and our whole team stepped up. Corey Lewis got his first Lynn career points, and had a couple of big boards. Greg Boxell came in off the bench and provided a huge spark, crashing the offensive boards and playing extremely hard. I was extremely proud of our whole team because if something started to go wrong, they banded together and played strong. I hope that our team takes this momentum and run with it.

You said we’re a team. One person struggles, we all struggle. One person triumphs, we all triumph.- from Coach Carter

Conference Opener

Well, its what I consider to be the third greatest time of the year, Conference time. The first two are the beginning of the season and post-season time, respectively. Last night was our conference opener. We played Eckerd College and won. I have a personal rivalry with Eckerd, since my brother went there and I almost went there.

The game was a back and forth game all night. The final score was 73-72. This is the fourth year in a row that we have won our conference opener. Michael Baptiste and Ed Millard provided the opening baskets for the Knights. After the game was tied 7-7, we went on an 11-2 run, but Eckerd responded with a 14-2 run. The score at half was 31-26.

Eckerd and us traded baskets to start the 2nd half, until we took the lead four minutes in on a Randy Jones three-pointer. We were up at one point 55-44, before Eckerd went on an 11-1 run. We traded shot for shot and point for point and hitting key free throws down the stretch. Luke Postorino hit 5 free throws, including 1 to put us up by 4 with 5 seconds left. Josh King hit a last second three to set the final margain. We inbounded the ball and Luke threw it to the other end to sound the horn.

Chris Hall had a career high 17 points coming off the bench, which led all scorers. Hans Schur added 16, while Randy added 13 and Luke had 10.

Hope everyone has a great Holiday season.

Thanks to Jeff Messman for his game report.

End of Semester

Well, the year is just about half over and its been interesting.

I started the year off by getting to school early for Orientation Assistant. That was a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of freshman, and have made long-term friendships with a lot of those.

Then came the start of classes. I had a great schedule filled with fun and interesting teachers.

Then came the start of basketball. Basketball has been great, except the fact that we have lost three straight, but I have a good feeling about Saturday against Eckerd. I have a personal rivalry against Eckerd, becuase my brother went there and before I visited the Lynn campus, I was pretty sure I was going to Eckerd.

This past weekend I was in Valdosta, Georgia for basketball and it reminded me of Arkansas. The leaves were the orange, yellow, and brown you see in the fall and everybody was so nice. The only downside was we lost both games.

On the day after Thanksgiving, Arkansas beat LSU in football. I was so happy, since this was the first time since 1961, I think, that Arkansas has beat a Number 1 team in the nation. Then on the following Monday, Houston Nutt resigned as coach and signed onto coach at Ole Miss, who is a divisional rival. This infuriated me. The main rumor flying around Arkansas is that Lane Kiffin, the Oakland Raiders coach, might come to Arkansas and the old Ole Miss coach would come with him, which would be great, because he is known as a great recruiting, helping recruit such players as Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Carson Palmer, and Mike Williams.

Now, its time to study for finals and work until the 22nd when I’ll go home for 4 days, then come back for more basketball.
