Going to the dogs

Since I have two at home, I’m understandably excited about Lynn’s current activities to both support and rely on our low lying, tail-wagging, water splashing, no-questions asking, affection-giving friends of the canine persuasion. I love dogs. So when the Counseling Center had two pet therapy labs on campus for exam stress relief last month, I was there to see it. So were local reporters and photographers (everyone loves dogs, after all).

Well, one story about that event (by Sun Sentinel reporter Scott Travis) has been making the rounds nationally. It’s appeared in close to two dozen papers around the country from Washington state to Charleston, S.C. See the original story - “Dogs give students at Lynn University a stress break” -  at www.sun-sentinel.com.

Lynn student (and future blogger) Carolina Gonzalez was also there. Her photos of the event will adorn the backcover of the forth coming Lynn Magazine (and that’s her photo above as well).

Well, we’re not out of the doggy woods yet, folks. In another case of the tale wagging the campus, university employees are going to be bringing their pups to the job site in a few weeks for “Bring your dog to work day” - an event staged as a way to thank our furry family members at home and, more importantly, raise some cash for the Tri-County Humane Society - a favorite organization of our trustee and former first lady, Helen Ross.

The big day is Friday June 20. Participating employees must bring a $10 donation and a shelter wish-list item to employee services in advance (and sign a few registration forms). For more information, employees should contact HR at ext. 7915.

Don’t have a dog? Dress down that Friday for another $5. And bring dog biscuits. You’ll have one to yourself in no time.
