Whether you like poetry or not, there’s someone coming to campus in a few weeks that you need to see. Name: Tony Hoagland. Profession: poet (and, like most folks with that on their resume, he’s a professor too). Reason for being: apparently, it’s to write great poetry AND, among other things, entertain people too.
I could tell you about his books (there are many), awards (even more) and quote his stuff, but I think you may be more inclined to believe me if you just watch something.
It’s about 2 and a half minutes long and it’s probably only that long because the audience is laughing throughout much of it. Check it out.
