A nod to our student bloggers
It might seem odd to actually blog about blogging, but in this case it’s the best platform to express my thoughts, accolades and gratitude about Lynn’s student bloggers, who for the past few years have been sharing their impressions, thoughts and insights about their college life at Lynn.
Lynn's student blog squad
Last week, we had what has become our traditional end-of-year bloggers lunch with President Kevin Ross in attendance. This year we were especially proud to have President Ross present Morgan, author of “A Fresh Look,” a special blogger appreciation award:
This award of excellence is presented to Morgan Anderson for her dedication and commitment to her Lynn University blog, “A Fresh Look.”
President Kevin Ross presents blogger award to Morgan Anderson.
Morgan was part of Lynn’s inaugural blog squad and is the first and only student to blog throughout her four years as a Lynn undergraduate (from freshman year in September 2007 through her graduation in May 2011). “A Fresh Look” has given potential students and others off campus a complete and authentic perspective of the full Lynn University student experience.
I do make it a point to read our blog squad’s posts every day and their slices of Lynn life are truly authentic, informative and interesting. I have used bits and pieces of them for testimonials, wrote a feature for Lynn Magazine on our initial blog squad, but most importantly, I’ve come to know each of them not only through their very insightful posts, but also face-to-face as students I’ve come to admire and respect.
As I responded to an email from our “Making Waves” blogger Ryan who is graduating next week: “On a personal note, I will certainly miss you, Ryan. You are truly an amazing young man and it has been such a pleasure working with you these past few years. One of the best parts of my job is getting to know students like you. And the only downside is that after 4 years, you leave us.
”
It’s always bittersweet when our bloggers leave us and move on to their future endeavors, but the joy is in having known them.
So, I say good luck to those of you leaving the “squad” and to those of you continuing on, keep up the good work.
Remember, we are always looking for new student bloggers, so if you are interested, contact your fellow student Tammy (treyes@email.lynn.edu) who is currently running our blogging program and she will let you know how to apply.
I leave you with this: As StudentAdvisor said when announcing our #52 Social Media ranking: “Lynn students and staff are blogging up a storm! Check out the school’s fun and informative blog directory featuring real-time updates.”
