A Broken Suitcase
I would take Jena’s advice a give Jet Blue another chance, but not after this flight. The flight wasn’t actually too bad. I read some magazines and watched some TV. It was funny; before they gave the safety presentation the captain got on the microphone and spoke, “I would like to appologize for the four rows (24 seats) that have TVs inoperable. We are aware of the defects and they will be replaced upon arrival in Boston. We will be following company policy in taking care of those guests.”
It is great to provide a luxurious service like the TVs, but when almost every flight they have to make an announcement like that I think more time should be spent researching these great developments.
Anyways, once we landed in Boston I was pleasantly surprised by the 56 degree temperature. When I walked down to the baggage claim I was among everyone else waiting for their luggage. It was 15 minutes until the line starting moving.
My small suitcase was the first one to come down the drop. I had requested the airline attendant at the reception to place a “FRAGILE” sticker on the suitcase because a lot of my glass products from the convention were in that suitcase. The suitcase came out fine and nothing was damaged.
I guess with Jet Blue you have to have that fragile sticker otherwise your suitcase gets destroyed. The wheels and handle of my suitcase was completely ripped off and hanging. Not to mention that I had just purchased this new luggage when I went to Italy this passed summer.
As I looked around the entire bag I couldn’t figure out why or how they could have damaged the bag. My bag wasn’t overweight or overstuffed with luggage. After being told that I would have to write a letter to Jet Blue, I have declared this the final and last time I fly Jet Blue.
If the company is sympathetic in any way possible, they may give me a voucher coupon which may require me to fly with them again. But other than that…no!

joey,
the ground crew controls luggage not the airline unless you where flying into one of Jetblue’s hubs. so in effect the liability of your bag being damaged (however unfortunate) is ulitimately on you and limited to the airline (if you read the back of any airline ticket it specifically lays out these terms), jetblue being the progressive airline that they are will probably offer you a discounted ticket for your next flight, and i would challenge you to find that sort of compromise on any other airline in this particular cut throat market place.
