Winter Summit at FAU
So my responsibility as Associate Director of Business Administration for SAACURH is to arrange all transportation for all the other board members. I had booked everyone’s flights for this conference back in November. Ron had called me to confirm the airline. Jill had her confirmation. Whitney was the concern.
Whitney was traveling from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale. He was departing at 4:30pm and arriving at 6:30pm. He called Sean at 6:30 saying he went to the airport, checked every terminal, and everyone told him that his name wasn’t in the database (by the way; he had his confirmation with him) and regardless of what his confirmation said, he could not board. Whitney didn’t call me or Ej or Sean to figure it out. The attendant continued to further explain that there was a line of people behind Whitney that they needed to assist. WHAT????
I was ecstatic. His flight cost $250.00 of regional money. So they deny you boarding and tell you that they are busy and need to assist other customers; do you just walk away? Thats what Whitney did. I was furious. I went to my webmail account to check the confirmation and everything was confirmed correctly. I was livid. Once I got to FAU I called Delta to figure it out.
This conference meeting was for the Regional Board of Directors for SAACURH prior to our business conference that is in March. It was held at FAU. We started last night at 7pm with dinner. The amount of food and snacks was in abundance…from cookies, chips, pizza, candy, smores, and much more. As soon as we finished dinner we began conference.
Our agenda was pretty extensive. I didn’t think we would ever finish, but we did at midnight tonight. The six of us were pretty hilarious. Jon just kept making random comments and any joke that was said, he was five minutes behind. Ron and Sean decided to keep referring to me as Platinum because I am the only board member from “BOCA” and I guess it didn’t improve anything when I called to change my flight in the morning and had to emphasis to the Delta representative that because of my membership I am able to switch flights without a charge. My time spent between Whitney’s flight and my departure time switch was both dealt with Delta and very respectfully.
