Shopping for Blingo

First day back and classes are kicking in, but not only that the first KAT event is tonight. Right after my 9am class I went straight to Best Buy. Extreme Blingo was tonight and I hadn’t purchased any of the gifts. I had to be back for my 2pm class and $2,000  to spend.

I went to Bed Bath and Beyond first because Best Buy apparently doesn’t open until 10am. I found a Boom Box chair that you could hook up all kinds of things too like speakers, IPod, game systems, and much more. It was $95. But after going into Best Buy I found the same one for $40. I then went back to return it. The lady looked at me like I was psycho or having memory loss problems, but in fact; they just didn’t have the right price.

I was really looking to find a Wii. Best Buy, Toys R Us, Walmart, GameStop, and even FYE were sold out. I went to the mall to finish up things.  I really didn’t find too much. We had already purchased most things at previous Blingo’s and I hate being repetitive. I got 4 tickets to see One Republic live at Revolution on January 28th.  All the prizes I ended up purchasing for Blingo included:

  • IPod Nano
  • IPod Touch
  • IPod Tower
  • Wii Gaming Tower
  • Nikon Digital Camera
  • Boom Box Chair
  • Vacuum (For all those residents who NEED to clean their room)
  • LCD Television
  • Digital Picture Frame
  •  Travel DVD Player
  • 4 Tickets to One Republic Live in Concert
  • $100 Lynn Bookstore Gift Card
  • $100 Visa Gift Card
  • $150 Visa Gift Card
  • $30 Grand Lux Gift Card

and for those who didn’t realize, Extreme Blingo, is lightening round Bingos.

  1. The Wii is pretty much impossible to get at this point. There are several articles out there about how unexpected the popularity of the Wii would be among its creator, Nintendo. When they created it they figured that their target demographic would be children and teens, and what they’ve found is that the Wii is incredibly popular among seniors as both a social activity and a physical therapy tool, and its popularity just keeps on growing in every age group.

Anyway, probably a lot more than you wanted to know, but it’s just something I found really interesting. I couldn’t understand the Wii phenomenon until it was explained to me in this way.

Well I hope that your Blingo was a success! Can’t wait to read about it. :)

  2. And 40-somethings like the wii, too. Much to my dismay, my husband wanted one for Christmas. Luckily, I got the last one at Walmart. Why he didn’t want an iPhone instead is a mystery to me.

  3. You’ve got some good content here, you should consider adding your blog to the college blog network @ http://www.thecollegeblognetwork.com to increase readership ;)
