KAT Tries a New Way to Host Blingo
Â
I really would have never known that students felt the way the Blingo was held in January looked unfair. When a student approached me saying that he felt as though the game was generated unfairly I looked at him in shock. Blingo is a game of chance. You get the card that you get and if you are lucky you win. However, he further explained that the computer generated speed rounds could be potentially rigged.
Last Blingo I had sat in the cafeteria for three hours playing Blingo with the machine to pre-determine the numbers to be put in the powerpoint. I felt as though it was the only way to do it and it would be done fairly instead of me just choosing what ever numbers to do. Although I know I have the ethics to not show anyone the file, I understood the student’s concern.
Next Blingo on February 10th will be at 7pm on the E.M. Lynn Wall, innovative huh? There will be chairs for students however, I encourage students to bring out their blankets and pillows. I found a internet based blingo that will do all the number calling and it will be projected up on the wall. Our hopes are to bring out more students in the residence halls. We will see if it works. Prizes are still to be determined, but some of the ones we are considering include:
- 2 Disney Weekend Trips with OSI
- Hotel Stay in Miami for President’s Day Weekend
- And much more…
I always encourage students to contact me if their is some particular prize they want to see.

Wow! Sounds like fun! I wish we had Blingo when I lived on campus – with cool prizes like those!
