Door Locks Finally Working

We are about half way through spring semester and they have finally recognized the locks on our doors in EML have issues. Apparently it has only been certain doors, mine in particular, but it has been a pain.

I lived in Lynn Residence Center all last year and I never once needed my lock to be changed. My batteries never went dead and I never had any problems. Since day one of this year, every other week my door would go dead. If it went dead on a Friday I had to go the entire weekend without a working door. I had to call security every time I needed to get in my room. Some days in was more than ten times. Even when it went dead during the week sometimes maintenance wouldn’t have a chance to fix it until the next day.

Persona, the company that is based out of New Haven, CT, is who operates our lock system on campus. The past two days the resident assistants of EM Lynn and Lynn have had to walk through the building with the representative of Persona as he changed all the key pads. While walking around with the representative I learned that the same locks used on campus are the same ones used in 50% of the hotels across the country with the exception of the keypad.

It’s nice to know now that I can continue the rest of the semester without a lock problem…

  1. That’s great that EML now has the keypad locks. I must say it is a really great system that; I love the fact that you don’t have to worry about carrying around a key with you. And with the pin, if you lose your Lynn ID Card and someone finds it and tries to access your room, they can’t without your pin!
