Old Town San Diego

Nice three day weekend ahead of us. We thought we would check some areas of San Diego. One trolley stop away from campus is Old Town. Old Town San Diego is considered the birthplace of San Diego. It reminds me of Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts. Historic buildings include La Casa de Estudillo, La Casa de Bandini, La Casa de Altamirno Pedrorena and the Mason Street School, San Diego’s first one room schoolhouse.

We grabbed some lunch at Cafe Coyote. Pretty descent food, and great margaritas. I thought those would be the only drinks I would have for the day. As we continued to walk around to look in the small shops and street market we stumbled upon a wine tasting room. Jimmy could resist so we all tried it out. I tasted the red wines. You had five tastes for $9.50. Not too bad and then I ended up sending a bottle of Merlot home to my mom.
