Locked Out and Not An RA

Living in California is amazing….the breathtaking views that I can see out my window as I wake up are astonishing. What campus has apartments that overlook Mission Bay? Pretty hot huh? However as glamorous are our housing accommodations, it doesn’t help if you lock yourself out.

Not even a week on campus and I locked myself out. Not really. Deepak, John Henry, Jimmy, Maulik, Hans, and I went to Dave and Busters for Deepak’s birthday. I  rode with John Henry and on the way home he dropped me off before the others. Because we were all going together I didn’t bother to take my room key; that was a mistake.

I wasn’t sure how long it was going to take for them to get back so I remember that this morning I opened up the bathroom window. However, this bathroom window is not big at all. It’s short and narrow. It was my only entry point and I didn’t see anyone at the residence life office to let me in. Since I have been an RA for two years now I should have known public safety could let me in, but I took the challenge.

This is the window. The bottom half is the only half that becomes open. I slithered one leg in until I was practically doing a vertical split if that is all possible. Ducking my head and sweeping my body into the window I was able to get in…what a task? Next thing you know two RAs are running down the sidewalk…OOps!! Guess climbing in windows is not tolerated on all campuses.
