A cactus and a place that doesn’t participate in daylight savings

I stepped outside the Tucson, Arizona airport and a cactus was in front of me. Not just one, but many. It’s my first time in Arizona, I definitely have never experienced an area in the states with such a diverse terrain and landscape. I always enjoy going to different states.I had to wake up this morning at 4am because my flight out of Boston was at 6:50 with a connection in Houston. The layover was four hours, but I had stuff to do to get ready for the conference. I was on my way to the Semi Annual Business Meeting for NACURH 2009 hosted by the University of Arizona.

I found it very interesting that when I got here the time difference was only two hours. I was expecting it to be a three hour difference. Alla, the National Board of Directors Liaison, told me that it is one place that the time never changes. I thought it was odd at first, but I guess not. They never turn their clocks ahead or behind. Everywhere I go has something unique…Arizona included!
