Being about a month into school things are starting to get back into the swing of things; classes are getting more serious, students are using the library more and staying up late to study. What comes with staying up late to work? Food! Students always order food and get it delivered at all hours of the day/night. Sure… you can get food from the cafeteria or the Knights Court, but there are times you crave that fast food such as pizza or a sub.
So what can you do in order to stay fit from all these different types of food? Why not go to the gym a few times a week or join a fitness class (it’s FREE) right here on campus. Last week my roommate and I decided we wanted to try the yoga class that is offered on Tuesday/Thursday’s at 7am – 8am or from 9pm – 10 pm. We did the 9-10pm class. We met in the dance room on the 3rd floor of Old Lynn. There were about 16 people including the instructor. It was a lot of fun, but hard work! Yoga may look easy however, it truly is tough. I am going to try to keep up with doing yoga at least once a week if not both days and I just think it’s fun and good way to stay fit. Also it’s relaxing.
In addition to yoga classes, there are water aerobics, kickboxing, 90x, and a lot more is offered. For a schedule of what is being offered during the week go to the gym located on the first floor of Old Lynn.
So why not come out tonight at 9pm in the dance room or even on Thursday night. It’s a lot of fun and you may make a few new friend!
So recently, I started a new way to stay fit and it’s a lot of fun – biking! Lynn has a great new program that allows students to rent out a bike for the day. Starting at 8 in the morning until you turn the bike in at 9 later that night. I find it also a great way to get around both on campus and off!
In the last week I have rented a bike 4 out of the 7 days. I have gone as close as Panera Bread right down the road on Military and as far as Gumbo Limbo which is down by the beach on Ocean Drive. Now I haven’t been going by myself neither! It’s a great way to be able to get to the mall or beach or even just to relax and take a ride around. I have even gotten my boyfriend and roommate involved. They have enjoyed it as much as I have.
I know I plan on biking more often now that Lynn has made it available and more assessable. You can rent a bike at the security shack that is by EML. All you have to do it show the guard your Lynn ID, sign a waiver form and take the helmet and key for the lock & you’re ready to go! There are 4 bikes currently ready for renting.
