This weekend was absolutely CRAZY, yet I loved every single moment! This year I got the opportunity to be apart of The Disney MGM Studios 12th annual Super Soap Weekend. Prior to working the event I had heard several scary stories as to how passionate these fans can truly be, I mean its not every day that you have guests waiting since eight o’clock the night before to get in to the park, in fact most of them waiting since about three or four in the morning. My morning started off bright and early; in fact when I first got there, the sun wasn’t even up yet since my shift started at six am. Unlike any other morning, these past two days all cast members were asked to park backstage due to high volume of guest expectancies, this is unusual since typically for this park backstage parking has restricted access. So I was able to park in the rehearsal lot for the stunt drivers of Lights, Motor Action! And than after walking along the streets of America I noticed the holiday lights were turned on because there was a crew doing final touches to make sure everything was operating smoothly, when all of a sudden they began to dance along to the music. Being there out on the street the morning they began with only a few crew members, and myself, I was not only able to see the lights before any of our guests would later on in the evening, but I also got a chance to see them dance on a practically empty street.

That was all even before my shift had started, the rest of the day was one of the most interesting, highly interactive and intense days I’ve had at work thus far, yet I wouldn’t mind doing any of it again, as long as I get some rest first. I was very fortunate to get a good assignment, since many of the horror stories I had heard, were from the other place people usually get placed, not only that, but since the attraction I usually work at was down for the event, I was able to work with many of the cast members I work with on a daily basis, and many throughout the property. I talked to so many people, I had no choice but to know exactly what was going on, I got questions about the park, about the event, and even some rather odd and unusual questions. I witnessed first hand how a group consisting mainly of grown women would yell, scream, argue, and even cry over several different situations involving their favorite soap stars. super-soap-weekend_logo.gif I had people hate me, some love me, and I got just about everything. I had people take pictures of me, video tape me along side my fellow cast members, but most of all; I was able to leave impressions with some of these guests. I know it may sound cheesy, but this morning when I came in to work again, just as guests were entering the park, I had several guests stop me and mention the remembered me from the previous day. Its always an amazing experience when I have guests come up to me and mention they remember a conversation they had with me earlier during their stay, weather we talked for a brief moment, that I was able to give them a helpful hint, or if I talked with them for a good while to check in on how their trip is going. I realize I have babbled more about these past two days than probably anything else during my program so far, but I have only mentioned few instances I experienced this past weekend, I’m sure I could continue writing several more stories and interactions I had but I just don’t think I’d be able to stop. Basically was an experience I feared but in the end I will never forget the amount of passion these guests shared just one weekend of Super Soaps!

Unfortunately I was not able to take any photos since I was busy working, and we aren’t able to take photos while we work.

I have so many interesting things happen to me, I cant even remember half of all the interesting stories, some of them where seeing a grown woman almost break out into tears when I told her she was unable to sit in a particular spot during the motorcade, experiencing madness while guests waited for their autograph return times, being about within short distance of the taping of Good morning America’s interview with Dancing with the Stars Cameron Matheson and his dance partner’s interview. These are just very few of all the crazy things that happened during the weekend.
